She can be found pouring hot coffee on Sunday mornings, teaching first-grade kids about Jesus on a Wednesday night, scraping wallpaper off of a wall at a pregnancy center on a Saturday morning or passing out food to local residents twice a month at a food pantry.
Gerry Loucks of Plainfield has become a volunteer leader at her home church, Minooka Bible Church. When she and her husband Al came to Minooka Bible Church, she began working right away with the food pantry. That was seven years ago.
At that time, Loucks worked, but shortly after retired and found herself with time on her hands. She chose to channel that energy into her church ministries, and not only food pantry.
She now helps with the coffee café most every weekend; helps with Echo Midweek, a ministry to children in kindergarten through fourth grade; Endeavor Team local missions group which performs six local missions per year; Spy Kidz vacation Bible camp; Mothers of Preschoolers and a marriage ministry called Re-Engage.
