A woman who used the identity of a former friend to avoid a criminal charge was arrested after trying to steal clothes and toys from the Target in Bolingbrook, police said.
Ashlee A. Richardson, 22, of the
300 block of Falcon Ridge Way in Bolingbrook has been wanted by the police since July after she allegedly used the identity of a former friend to evade a criminal charge for stealing products from Meijer.
About 5 p.m. Dec. 24, Richardson was arrested at the Target at 1188 W. Boughton Road for allegedly trying to steal clothes and toys, Bolingbrook police Sgt. Scott Lustik said in an email.
Richardson was taken to the Will County jail, where she was held on a $20,000 bond.
Richardson posted 10 percent of her bond and was released from custody Wednesday evening.
Richardson ran afoul of the law June 28 when officers responded to the Meijer at 225 N. Weber Road to investigate a retail theft complaint.
Richardson was apprehended and detained by Meijer staff for stealing baby formula and fraudulently returning stolen merchandise, police said. She also allegedly stole clothes from the store earlier that day.
Richardson gave the store staff and responding officers the name and personal information of another woman who was not involved in the theft, police said. She continued to use that woman’s identity throughout the arrest procedure, police said, including forging a signature on a bond sheet.
