CHANNAHON – A two-vehicle crash on interstate 55 injured one person who had to be sent to the hospital, Channahon fire officials said.
The crash occurred after midnight Sunday at mile marker 249 on I-55.
Channahon firefighters were sent to the scene, where they found two pickup trucks were involved in a crash, according to a news release.
There was significant damage to both vehicles and one of them struck a guard rail that penetrated the passenger compartment.
The condition of the truck required the occupant to be extracted, which took about 30 minutes.
The occupant was sent to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Troy, Minooka and Morris firefighters and emergency crews provided assistance at the scene.
