MORRIS – State Rep. David A. Welter, R-Morris, was appointed to serve on the Public Utilities Committee, Public Safety Appropriations Committee, the Special Committee on Police and First Responders, Committee on Counties and Townships and the Energy Committee in the new 100th Illinois General Assembly.

“Many of my constituents are employed by the energy sector and these committees will be an excellent venue to advocate on their behalf,” Welter said. “I look forward to being their voice in Springfield.”

The State House of Representatives has committees for each industry sector or subject.

Each representative is considered an expert on matters addressed in their committees.

The committees meet to ask questions about the bills and then vote whether to bring a bill to a full vote on the House Floor.

“I am extremely excited to use my knowledge of counties and townships from my time on the Grundy County Board,” Welter said. “I believe this is the perfect time to enact good government reforms.”

The State House of Representatives of the 100th General Assembly convened on Feb. 8.
