SHOREWOOD – Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C offers year-round screenings for children ages 3-5 who reside in the district.
Troy’s preschool programs include the Community Preschool Program, which is designed for typically-developing preschool children; the Early Childhood Program, which is designed for children in need of special services; and the Preschool for All Program, which is a grant-funded program for children with certain at-risk factors.
The certified early childhood education teachers, licensed speech pathologists and school nurse at Troy’s Little BEES Preschool Program evaluate children in the following areas: vision, hearing, motor skills, speech and language, concept understanding and overall general development.
“The earlier we determine these needs, the better we can intervene in a child’s life,” said Troy Crossroads Elementary School Assistant Principal and Preschool Program Supervisor Susan Behun. “When you build these foundational skills early in life, children are more successful in school and in their everyday lives.”
All screenings, evaluations and referrals are confidential.
“The mission of the Little BEES Preschool program is to improve our students’ development, learning and kindergarten readiness through their preschool experiences here in Troy,” Behun said.
To schedule your child’s preschool screening, please contact the district at 815-577-7314, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
